“Time for us all to take action and demand more from our Utility providers for the health and lives of the community, the Natural World and our Planet”

Dear Vince,

I’m very happy to share with you the River Action Local Charter for Rivers and Resource Pack, all found in our handy download folder.

The Local Charter for Rivers follows on from the National Charter for Rivers which we launched last year. We’ve taken the National Charter and adapted it for the local level. It outlines 6 key ‘asks’ for local political leaders which, if put into action, will dramatically help rescue your local river.

With 2024 being an election year, it’s the perfect opportunity to lend your voice to rivers.  Whether it’s your first time campaigning for your local river, or you’re a seasoned old hand, by downloading the Local Charter for Rivers, you’ve got a powerful resource to make real difference in your community.

The Local Charter for Rivers is supported by the WI, Rivers Trust, National Trust, Friends of the Earth, Greenpeace, Chris Packham, Feargal Sharkey, Megan McCubbin, Bird Girl aka Dr. Maya-Rose Craig and many more!

This Local Charter for Rivers is as a blueprint for change and the resource pack outlines some tips and tricks to kick start your local river campaign, or functions as helpful inspiration to a current one. Use it to go and speak to your local leaders, to drum up support in your community and turn inspiration into action. We can’t wait to see how you use it.

Whether it’s attending council meetings, writing letters, organising community events or simply sharing your thoughts on social media (or in person!), your advocacy can spark meaningful change. Don’t forget to tag @riveractionuk in anything you post online so we can shout about it too.

Together, we have the power to make a difference. We can rescue our rivers, for people and nature.
